Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Baker actually grew up with a father who was an orthodontist, and he started working for him when he was still a kid, lending a helping hand in the lab. This early exposure to the oral healthcare world ignited the first sparks of curiosity, and it wasn’t too long before he knew he would walk down a similar path in life. In fact, he ended up working at an inner-city hospital to put himself through dental school, doing emergency blood analyses. Upon graduation, he had no loans, which allowed him to start his own dental office without delay. The rest, they say, is history.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending Utah State University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Baker attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1977. Ever since then, he’s pursued plenty of continuing education courses so that he can stay up to date with the latest technologies and techniques in dentistry. Some of his areas of focus include metal-free restorative work, orthodontics with clear braces, and sedation dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Baker has five wonderful grown daughters, as well as 14 grandchildren who range from the pre-teens all the way down to babies. When he isn’t busy caring for patients, his biggest hobby is traveling. He’s taken a Baltic cruise and a trans Panama Canal cruise over the years, along with rafting on the Colorado River and hiking/camping at Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. He even took his children (when they were still young) on a month-long trip to Germany, Austria, Italy, and Slovenia – they traveled in a rented van! His other interests include riding his motorcycle and skiing.
